Q’emiln Park – A Fingertip Friendly Rock Climbing Paradise
Q’emiln Park (pronounced ka-mee-lin) is one of the Northwest’s top fingertip-friendly rock climbing destinations. Located in Post Falls, next to the Spokane River and surrounded by forestland, these cliffs offer incredible adventures for the advanced climber or anyone trying their hand at rock climbing for the first time.

Rock Climbing
There’s no need to travel far from home to immerse yourself in an outdoor adventure. Just across the Idaho border from Coeur d’Alene is Post Falls, an outdoor enthusiast’s paradise with amazing rock cliffs and outcroppings for climbing.
The 78-acre Q’emiln Park offers one of the region’s best natural rock-climbing areas with easy, scenic approaches to family-friendly crags that offer 100-plus routes for all ages and abilities.
Q’emiln is not as unrelentingly steep as some other crags in the area, but it still takes an experienced climber to navigate some of its harder routes. That said, it’s a great place for beginners to practice their skills.
Hiking Trails
Right in the heart of Post Falls lies a 500-acre hiking oasis that will take you far from civilization. The Community Forest trails offer casual, intermediate, and challenging routes for all ages and fitness levels.
Swim near the beach, grab a boat and go inner tubing or fishing on the river, climb some rocks, hike a trail, or picnic by the water, it’s all available at Q’emiln Park.
Sometimes it’s a good idea to get out of your comfort zone and experience something new. Hike a different trail or tour a city you’ve never visited before. Even better, go to the places you love but see them in a new way. You may be surprised at how much fun you have! This unique place is a must-see!
Picnicking
Post Falls is a popular place for recreational activities including rafting trips, fishing expeditions, and hiking. The Centennial Trail runs through the town and ends at Higgins Point on Lake Coeur d’Alene.
The town also has several golf courses and a variety of restaurants offering everything from classic American cuisine to exotic world flavors. You can also find shopping centers, arts and entertainment venues, and a sports arena where you can catch a thrilling race.
The city has several drive-through coffee sheds where you can grab a quick pick-me-up before heading out for the day. For lunch, you can head to Republic Taphouse where they have delicious salads and tacos with vegetarian and vegan options. For a nice dinner, try Sawmill Grille & Spirits which is located across from the visitors center.
Camping
With the beautiful Spokane River running through it, Post Falls has a lot of outdoor activities to offer. You can go hiking, swimming, boating, or picnicking. There are also many parks that you can visit. The city also has a golf course and a museum.
The crags at Q’emiln Park offer some of the region’s best sport climbing, with a scenic approach from historic trails where a Coeur d’Alene tribal village once stood. You can also find pictographs on a rock at Treaty Rock, conveying a historic treaty between early settler Frederick Post and Andrew Seltice, the Chief of the Coeur d’Alene Tribe.
The park also offers a playground and walking paths for families. There are also several picnic areas and a boat launch.
Horseback Riding
With a wide lake and a network of hiking trails, Post Falls makes for a great place to enjoy the outdoors. Explore the city park’s pristine shoreline, stroll the Tubbs Hill trail, a self-guided nature walk featuring outstanding views and woodland habitats, or head out to Lake Coeur d’Alene just a few miles east.
After a day of exploring, head back to Q’emiln Park to cool off at its swimming beach with lifeguards on duty during the summer. Alternatively, head out on the water for a scenic cruise or visit attractions like a cute llama farm.
